Having taken roles in the UK Company including store management, regional marketing and buying, he moved into a pilot team in the mid '80s which began to explore the possibilities of sourcing from a European perspective, rather than individual retail country perspective. This task involved the management of the Asian-based sourcing organisation in 12 different locations across South and South East Asia, relationship-management of the supply base in those related countries, with all activities related to the overall Roadmap of the C&A Buying/ Sourcing organisation. He established additionally the Mondial Institute for Social Development which financed a significant number of social projects in those sourcing countries, with a focus on the development of children, whether their education, their welfare or their health.
He returned to Europe in 2000 and was appointed as Head of Global Sourcing for C&A Europe, a role which also included the Quality Assurance Department, management of C&As own CMT Company in Eastern Europe, and membership of the Corporate Social Responsibility team at C&A. In 2007, he was given the additional responsibility for the Environment at C&A.
As of January 2009, Philip was appointed as Head of Sustainability at C&A, a role which incorporates leadership of the Corporate Social Affairs, Environmental and Quality Assurance teams at C&A Europe. In this capacity, he reports directly to the CEO of C&A Europe.
